XMED Clinic has signed a medical technology and trademark licensing cooperation agreement with Okuno Clinic in Japan, introducing C-TAME (Microcatheter-Based Transcatheter Arterial Microembolization) therapy.
On July 11, 2025, Beamcare Clinic (Daan District, Taipei City) invited Dr. Yuji Okuno, Director-General of Okuno Clinic in Japan, to Taiwan. During the press conference "A New Chapter in Taiwan-Japan Chronic Pain Care," the two parties signed a Medical Technology and Trademark Licensing Cooperation Agreement. Beamcare Clinic has been authorized by Okuno Clinic as a medical institution in Taiwan that can perform TAME (Transcatheter Arterial Microembolization) and use the Okuno Clinic trademark. In the future, both parties will continue to promote the exchange of experiences and professional cooperation in pain treatment between Taiwan and Japan.
TAME (Transcatheter Arterial Microembolization) was developed by Dr. Yuji Okuno. It targets abnormally proliferation of microvessels in areas of chronic pain, using a microcatheter for selective embolization to reduce chronic inflammation and the source of pain. The catheter-based procedure performed at Beamcare Clinic is now named C-TAME. It is conducted in our angiography operating room under the image guidance of the GE OEC 3D mobile C-arm (equipped with cone-beam CT function) and is performed by Director Ping-Sheng Lu, a specialist in diagnostic imaging, neuroradiology, and pain management. This procedure is not suitable for all cases; indications and risks are thoroughly evaluated and explained by the physician prior to treatment.
Director Ping-Sheng Lu, who has a background in medical imaging, stated during the press conference: "The hardest part of chronic pain is not how to treat it, but how to correctly see its source. Often, what causes pain is not necessarily obvious structural damage, but a chronic inflammatory response triggered by a long-term imbalance in the microenvironment. Our goal is not to demolish tissue, but to adjust the environment so that the body can gradually return to its proper, stable state."
With the core philosophy of "Never Let Pain Pause Your Life," Beamcare Clinic spends an average of about one hour on communication and management for each first-time patient, incorporating lifestyle, injury history, and past treatment experiences into a comprehensive evaluation. The operating room is equipped with a medical-center-grade HEPA clean air system, and infection control is implemented according to hospital standards. During the press conference, Director Ping-Sheng Lu also launched his new book, "Deciphering 30 Common Pains in Adults."
