Dr. Lu Bing-sheng, Director of Sunset Clinic, has been reappointed as a Director of the Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology, and Dr. Lin Jun-yu has been reappointed as Secretary-General
The Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology (TSIR) has announced its organizational roster for the 5th Board of Directors, Supervisors, and Secretariat, with the term of office running from April 11, 2026, to April 10, 2028.
Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu, Director of Sunrise Clinic, continues to serve as a Board Member, and Dr. Chun-Yu Lin, from the Men's Special Clinic, continues to serve as Secretary-General. Both doctors also served as Board Member and Secretary-General respectively in the previous term, continuing their involvement in the professional development and exchange of interventional radiology in Taiwan.
What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology (IR) is a medical field that combines diagnostic imaging with minimally invasive treatment.
Interventional radiologists not only interpret X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, or angiograms, but also use real-time imaging guidance to perform catheterizations, embolizations, ablations, and other minimally invasive interventional procedures within blood vessels or body tissues.
Therefore, both image interpretation skills and catheter manipulation techniques are key foundations of interventional radiology treatments.
From Identifying Problems via Imaging to Performing Minimally Invasive Treatments
Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu is a specialist in Diagnostic Radiology, Neuroradiology, and Pain Medicine. He currently serves as the Director of Sunrise Clinic and a Board Member of the Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology, primarily performing image-guided pain treatments and Catheter-based Microembolization (C-TAME).
Dr. Chun-Yu Lin is a specialist in Diagnostic Radiology. He currently serves as the Director of the Department of Medical Imaging at Taiwan Adventist Hospital and the Secretary-General of the Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology. His expertise covers transcatheter arterial embolization, angioplasty, and image-guided interventional procedures. At Sunrise Clinic, he performs Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) and Varicocele Embolization.
Both doctors share a professional background rooted in diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology.
For patients requiring minimally invasive interventional treatment, the procedure is not just about "placing a catheter into a blood vessel." The more critical first step is using imaging to understand the location of the lesion, vascular anatomy, and potential sources of the problem, before determining whether further treatment is appropriate.
Sunrise Clinic Continues to Develop Image-Guided Minimally Invasive Interventional Treatment
Located in Da'an District, Taipei City, Sunrise Clinic features an angiography suite equipped with GE OEC 3D C-arm imaging systems, developing a medical model centered on diagnostic imaging, precise targeting, and minimally invasive interventional treatments.
Currently, Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu performs C-TAME (Catheter-based Microembolization) for chronic pain, while Dr. Chun-Yu Lin performs vascular interventional treatments such as Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
In the future, Sunrise Clinic will continue to actively participate in professional exchanges within the field of interventional radiology, applying diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive interventional techniques to the assessment and treatment of various clinical conditions.
