Beamcare Clinic co-hosts the TSIR 2026 Annual Meeting | Sharing Pain Intervention Treatment and Teaching Experience
On September 12-13, 2026, the Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology (TSIR) Annual Meeting 2026, hosted by TSIR and co-organized by Beamcare Clinic, took place at Chung Shan Medical University in Taichung. This year's annual meeting featured musculoskeletal (MSK) pain as a major theme, covering pain assessment of joints, tendons, and surrounding tissues, as well as image-guided interventional therapies.

Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu, Director of Beamcare Clinic, participated in keynote speeches, pre-recorded surgical demonstrations, international roundtables, and hands-on workshops. The initiating team of the Taiwan Association of Pain Imaging and Interventional Procedures (TAIIP), which is in the process of applying for establishment, hosted part of the MSK pain imaging and interventional therapy curriculum, participating in curriculum planning, instructional video production, and workshop arrangements.

Beamcare Clinic co-organized the TSIR 2026 Annual Meeting to exchange knowledge on pain imaging and interventional therapy with domestic and foreign physicians.
Sharing Interventional Therapy Experience for Knee, Head, Neck, and Shoulder Pain
During the program on September 12, Director Ping-Sheng Lu shared his experience in transarterial embolization for head, neck, and shoulder pain, covering myofascial pain and frozen shoulder; in the afternoon, he presented clinical cases of interventional therapy for knee pain through a pre-recorded surgical demonstration of genicular artery embolization (GAE).

The TAME micro-arterial embolization therapy discussed at this annual meeting covered applications for different painful areas. Each session ranged from clinical presentation and imaging evaluation to the selection of therapeutic materials and techniques, allowing attending physicians to compare approaches in different scenarios.
Physicians from the Beamcare Clinic team also participated in the pain intervention sessions. Dr. Jiun-Yu Lin shared embolization therapy and a pre-recorded surgical demonstration for male pelvic pain; Dr. Horng-Lung HSU introduced medical adhesive glue and mechanochemical ablation for varicose veins; Dr. Chun-Lung Tsou introduced treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome; and Dr. Yu-Chia Chen introduced head and neck-related research and pain treatments.

Exchanging Clinical Choices for TAME with International Speakers
On the afternoon of September 12, Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu and Dr. Bo Wang co-moderated an international roundtable discussion. Participants included Dr. Yuji Okuno from Japan, Dr. Soo Buem Cho from Korea, Dr. Chow Wei Too from Singapore, as well as Taiwanese physicians such as Dr. Keng-Wei Liang, Dr. Hsian-Ying Lin, and Dr. Po-Yin Shen, jointly discussing genicular artery embolization, TAME, and pain control.

Other sessions that day also included a discussion on material selection for genicular artery embolization by Dr. Yuji Okuno, the inventor of microvascular embolization, and Dr. Masanori Inoue from Japan, as well as Dr. Hyeonseung Hwang's experience with shoulder TAME from Korea. Presentations from different medical teams provided opportunities to compare treatment strategies and existing evidence.
Practicing Image Interpretation and Equipment Operation through Hands-on Sessions
The curriculum on September 13 extended from basic assessment to advanced techniques. Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu shared ultrasound-guided arterial infusion therapy via axillary and transverse cervical artery approaches, focusing on safety protocols; Dr. Bo Wang lectured on complications of embolization therapy, discussing risk identification, prevention, and management.

The afternoon hands-on workshop featured a six-station rotation, including arterial infusion instruction for wrist, knee, and ankle pain, fusion image-guided injection for low back pain, and hands-on practice with GAE/TAME simulators and vascular puncture models. Fusion imaging integrates different imaging information to assist in identifying anatomical structures and positioning.

Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu served as the workshop moderator, with instructors including Dr. Bo Wang and Dr. Hsin-Chieh Huang leading the trainees through station practices. Through simulators and models, trainees could repeatedly familiarize themselves with equipment operation and image interpretation; actual clinical treatment must still be built upon complete training and individualized patient assessment.
APSCVIR Shares Event Record

Pain Treatment Requires Individualized Evaluation
This curriculum concurrently arranged discussions on disease assessment, treatment techniques, and complications.
For patients suffering from chronic pain, whether they are suitable for TAME or other interventional treatments still requires a physician's judgment based on symptoms, examination results, and history of treatment response, along with explanations of expected benefits, potential risks, and other treatment options.
